Founded in Sabah, Jari Jari Spa infuses age-old Dusun Lotud massage therapy with the best elements of Asia’s luxurious spas. The fifth and newest in a series of multiple award-winning spa centres, the brief called for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of suburban living into an oasis of relaxation and rejuvenation.

As part of Malaysia’s first integrated wellness hub, bamboo –traditionally one of the most important raw materials for Sabahan natives –was a natural choice for the interior fit-out. Bornean hardwood, sandstone, and jungle plants make up the tropical aesthetic. The colour palette revolves around a rich sepia, evoking the image of a spiritual retreat to rest, relax and refresh. A blend of oils and aromatics waft through the softly-lit interiors, rounding off the experience.

Guests, welcomed by the warm, sweeping bamboo concierge, are then guided upstairs through the bamboo colonnade. The bamboo colonnade’s ribs help diffuse the lighting onto the walls, incidentally creating an extraordinary shadow play.
